What should I do about my new Bronco's scratch… ignore or fix?

My brand new Bronco got a scratch, and I’m torn between fixing it or just ignoring it. Any advice?

Honestly, that scratch just adds some character. I doubt it’s anything major! Why not slap on a fun bumper sticker over it?

Yeah, it’s tough to decide because he’s an older driver. It’s my first car, only 3 months old, so it hurts a bit :sweat_smile:. Thanks for the bumper sticker idea, though…

Try parking further away or find a spot next to a curb…

Older folks don’t get a pass! They’re some of the worst when it comes to careless door dings. Plus, in Ontario, if you don’t have video, you’re likely out of luck. Without evidence, insurance might count it as your fault, so be careful. I had a similar situation with video proof, but it was still a long process to sort out. The system here is rough.

Wow, good to know! Maybe I should invest in a rear camera just in case. Although it sounds like it didn’t help in your case :smiling_face_with_tear:

I got lucky with a business camera pointed at my car and a witness who left their info, but it still took forever to resolve. Since yours is a plastic scratch, it might not be worth the hassle. I’d say let it go unless it’s something serious. These things add up, especially with a rugged car like the Bronco.

@Avery
That’s true. Being honest doesn’t seem to get you far these days :weary:

Forget about it. Fixing it won’t be worth the depreciation hit if Carfax flags it as an accident. Trust me.

That’s exactly what I was wondering about! Thanks for the insight.

@Noor
I had a minor scrape on my old car, and it made selling it a nightmare once it showed up on Carfax. Be careful with reports like that.

Yesterday, I parked far from everyone like I always do, and somehow, this person still parked right next to me. If I’d seen him, I might’ve had a few words to say. Some people just go out of their way to ignore basic courtesy.

@Sully
Unbelievable…

@Sully
Ugh, this is so frustrating! Same thing happened to me.

If you drive regularly and park anywhere, these little scrapes are just part of the deal. Only chase after it if the damage is serious; otherwise, it’s just not worth the stress.

Good advice, I’ll definitely think about it.

@Noor
I always ask if the stress is worth it before taking action. Most times, it’s not.

Get a trailer hitch; keeps others from getting too close to your back bumper.

Might actually do that!

First scratch always stings, but the bumper’s there to take these hits. I had a Lime scooter dropped on my door a few weeks in. It drove me nuts at first, so I get it!
