My wife just won an arbitration case for our ‘24 Wrangler. We’ve always liked Jeeps, but after everything, she says it feels like a bad breakup. We’ve test-driven a few Broncos, and yesterday we tried an Outer Banks 2.3. I sat in the back, and at 6’2”, it felt pretty tight. The rear seats seemed too upright, and I couldn’t figure out how to recline them. Is that just how they are, or was I missing something? Also, I’ll have both tops and plan to switch them seasonally like I do now. How easy is it to change the tops?
The back seats only recline by about 2 inches. Honestly, it’s probably my least favorite part of the Bronco.
Someone on this forum posted a comparison with photos: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/rear-seat-recline-angle-photos-vs-unreclined.16110/page-2
No one’s complained about it yet, but yeah, they could’ve made them more comfortable.
Wait… are you planning to sit in the back while your wife drives? Just curious why this is a concern.

Maybe he’s role-playing as a difficult Uber passenger.

Thanks for the laugh… I needed that.

Does your wife recline her seat fully? I’m taller than you, and people who ride behind me don’t have issues with legroom in the four-door Bronco.
I can’t speak for the two-door, but the four-door has two seat positions—one upright and the other with a slight recline. I find them fine for short trips, and the kids don’t complain.
Funny enough, the two-door actually has more legroom than the four-door.

Not bad for a four-seat vehicle.
I switched from a Wrangler 4xe to a Badlands Sasquatch two weeks ago. No regrets at all. I love my Bronco. It feels roomier, has better tech, and is more comfortable for long trips.
I’m 6’6", and I can sit behind my driving position, though it’s a bit snug. Reclining the seats makes a big difference for me. To do it, pull the latch by the headrests on the passenger side rear seat, lean it back a bit, and then do the same for the driver’s side.
Go for it! I’ve got a 2022 Badlands Sasquatch, and I love it. I’ve taken it through dunes, rocks, trails, and all kinds of off-road spots. If you get a new one, check out the Bronco Off-Roadeo experience that Ford offers. It’s a great way to get familiar with what your Bronco can handle.
Switching between hard and soft tops is pretty simple. The rear section of the hardtop is lighter than a Jeep’s. You just unlatch the panels and remove 10 bolts for the hardtop. The soft top has six bolts—three on each side. I think you also have to swap out the exterior plastic panel behind the doors. Two people can do it in no time.
Check out this video: https://youtu.be/ZSRiP0eHNAU?si=xfLty8DHhjDavOrX. It’s for the Heritage Edition, but the process is almost the same.
If you’re used to rear seats with a slight recline, the Bronco’s rear seats might feel uncomfortable.
On long trips, rear passengers might need some extra lumbar support since there’s not much recline. My kids weren’t happy during a road trip from Chicago to West Virginia. I even added phone holders, USB chargers, and other stuff, but they still preferred our old F-150.
I have a two-door Wildtrak hardtop and switched after owning two-door Wranglers for about 15 years. You’ll be happy with the change. I’m 6’1" and don’t use the back seat much, so I can’t say how it feels for long rides.
I’m 6’2", and I just fit when sitting behind my driving position. It’s not much bigger in the back than a Wrangler—just wider. I came from a 2021 Rubicon on 35s.
I used to swap between soft and hard tops on my Wrangler every spring and fall. Now with the Bronco, I just remove three panels for open air and keep the trunk covered. It works well for me, and I don’t feel the need for a soft top anymore. Maybe try it out first before buying another top.
