I’m selling my '87 Bronco II, but I haven’t received any interest in a few weeks. I’m starting to wonder if my asking price is too high or if there’s just not much demand for it where I’ve listed it. The vehicle is in excellent condition with 115,000 miles and an automatic transmission. It features a 2-inch suspension lift, new tires and wheels, and a Flowmaster exhaust. I also have a clean title. What do you think I should be asking for it? Any suggestions?
These old 4WDs can be hit or miss, so finding the right buyer is key. I see some clean ones going for 5-7k in So. Cal. with lower mileage. It also depends on how many nice Jeep XJs are around. My first car was a blue Bronco II, so I always love seeing one in great shape like yours.
As someone waiting for the Bronco market to settle before getting a Bronco II, here’s what I look for:
- Rust
2a. Engine health
2b. Transmission health - Manual (not against auto, but manuals last longer)
- Wear and tear
- Stock setup
With all that said, I’d say you’ll likely end up somewhere between 6-10k. The truck looks great, but the BII market is pretty niche, and buyers are usually looking for a deal. Stick to your price and let people know what the frame looks like.
Love seeing a BII done right. Hope you get your asking price.
If this had a manual transmission, I’d be interested.
Is $7500 a fair offer?
Nice looking B2! In that condition, I’d say it’s worth around 8-10k, but it really depends on the local market. Prices can vary a lot.
This looks slick.
Realistically, you’ll be lucky to get $5k. It’s an almost 40-year-old truck that was never that popular, especially in this setup. I’ve bought several in similar condition for about $1,000, but that was nearly a decade ago.
Any pictures of the underside? Which state is it from?

It’s from Texas. I can take some pictures of the underside if needed for those interested from out of state. I’ve only posted locally but might expand my reach if I don’t get any interest this weekend.
@Reagan
What motor is in it? Does the 4WD work?

It has the 2.9L Cologne V6, and yes, everything works as it should.
This is wild. Every forum about car brands I’ve visited is similar. For instance, in the ranger forum, someone asks about their car’s worth, and every comment suggests a price way below market value. I bet if I saw this for sale, it would be listed for 20k, but here people are like,
“eh, 5 grand” while scratching their heads lol.
@Rin
Just because someone posts a price doesn’t mean it sells. Bronco IIs usually go for under $10k, and his has a lot of miles for a drivetrain that’s not known for reliability, especially the automatic transmission. This isn’t a 20k truck unless it’s in museum-quality condition and has low mileage, and you’d still need a dedicated Bronco II fan with a lot of cash.
@Rin
Exactly. I’m listing it for $17,000 and I’m pretty firm on that. I’ve seen many listed across the US that are nothing compared to mine. The ones at $5,000 are clunkers with a million miles. I thought being in a Bronco enthusiast section would help, but I guess not.
@Reagan
Bring a Trailer usually gets the highest prices for vehicles, and these don’t sell for 17k with the mileage yours has. Maybe you should consider listing it there to get the best price.
@Reagan
Wrong site, man. It’s worth that much.
