Thinking about a 92 Bronco … is it worth it?

I’m considering buying a 1992 Bronco with a 5.0 liter engine and auto transmission. How reliable are these trucks? What are the common issues? How’s the gas mileage? If you’ve got tips or advice, please share. Thanks in advance!

What do you mean by auto manual?

Yeah, what’s that?

It’s where you can switch between automatic and manual.

In 1992, you’d get either the E4OD automatic or a manual. The E4OD can be built into a decent transmission but was the first electric shift-controlled type, so it’s not perfect. The manual is rock solid but swapping between them isn’t simple. With the 5.0, you’ll be looking at about 12 mpg on a good day.

Appreciate it! I’ll look into that.

I searched but couldn’t find anything. Are you sure about the name?

@Zenith
It’s fullsizebronco.com.

It’s not a sub, it’s an actual forum. Here’s the link: https://www.fullsizebronco.com/

Thanks. I just inherited a 1986 Bronco and need a rear window switch. The window only goes down, not up, and I can’t find a replacement.

@Zenith
Try Bronco Graveyard. They usually have parts like that.

I already checked, no luck.

@Zenith
I might have one in my storage unit. Try cleaning the switch first; sometimes it’s just dirty contacts. Remind me later this week if you don’t find one.

Switching out the motor is a pain, especially with the window down. It’s a tight fit.

@Grady
I’ve done it. You have to extend the regulator to reach it. I’ve got a tailgate with the same issue sitting in storage but haven’t tackled it yet.

I had trouble even with YouTube tutorials. It’s just such a hassle.

@Grady
It’s easier with the window down but still annoying. My storage unit is full of projects like this.

I get it. Hopefully, you can get organized and find what you need in there.

Hopefully, they’ve also documented the good stuff.
