I’m thinking about trading my full-size pickup for a Cactus Grey Badlands Sasquatch. Most of the time, I don’t really use my truck as a truck—just for the occasional plywood or fence picket haul. Anyone here make the same switch? Any regrets or advice?
I kept my 2018 F150 and got my wife a new OBX. Best of both worlds for us.

I just got my Bronco and kept my ‘18 truck too. Couldn’t part with a paid-off vehicle, especially with a kid about to drive in a few years.
@Dallas
Same here. I kept mine to tow my catering trailer. It’s paid off and only has 50k KM, so no way I’d trade it.
I went from a ‘19 Ranger to a Bronco. Whenever I need to haul something big, I just rent a U-Haul. A trailer is around $35–50, depending on the size.

I’ve opened the back window and let boards hang out when needed.
@Arin
Not something I’d risk, given how expensive hardtop glass is. If I need to move boards, I just lay down the back seats or borrow a truck. A U-Haul works for bigger stuff.

You should get full glass coverage on your insurance. It’s usually just a small extra cost.

I’ve replaced the glass once, and it’s pricey. Not worth breaking it over some boards.

I’m curious what’s missing in the Ranger that makes the Bronco Raptor cost so much more.
@Ashwin
Mostly personal choices. I went from a loaded ‘19 XLT Ranger to a 2023 Black Diamond 4-door hardtop.

To be fair, you went from a smaller truck to a Bronco. Probably had to rent a U-Haul for the Ranger too!
@Leith
Actually, the ‘19 and newer Rangers are mid-sized trucks. The Maverick is Ford’s compact truck.
@Leith
The T6 Ranger is close to the size of older F150s. Mine had the max tow package with a 7500 lb rating, even though I rarely needed it. So yeah, your sarcasm is pointless.

I’ve loaded 5k lbs of rock into my Ranger Tremor, and it handled it fine.
@Hux
I wouldn’t put 5,000 lbs in the bed of a half-ton truck. That’s a lot of stress. Even a 3/4-ton would struggle with that.
@Hux
That’s more weight than most people would risk. If something happens, insurance might deny your claim.

It was just a joke—that’s why I added the laughing emoji at the end.
I went from an F150 to an OBX. I do miss the truck occasionally—mostly at Lowe’s or when I think about the V8. But for the most part, I’m happy. Make sure you’re ready for the change.

Buying an aluminum utility trailer solved all my regrets.
