One year owning a 2021 Ford Bronco... thoughts?

Hey everyone, wanted to share my experience owning a 2021 Ford Bronco over the past year. Here’s a link to some pics: https://imgur.com/a/7vL0UnB.

Bronco details: It’s a 2021 Badlands 2.7 with Lux, Sasquatch, and Tow packages. Funny enough, this wasn’t even my original order—I bought an abandoned one that matched mine perfectly. I’ve put about 17,000 miles on it, and it’s been my daily driver since I got it, replacing my Tacoma. I’ve used it for off-roading, camping, and trips to Austin and Houston.

Here’s my breakdown of the pros and cons after a year:

Pros:

  1. Amazing off-road capabilities. Handled every trail without a hitch. Even pulled out a modded Jeep on my first trip out!
  2. Great for road trips with room for 5 people and all our gear.
  3. Tech features like the huge screen, B&O sound system, and 360 cameras make it user-friendly.
  4. Washout interior makes cleanup after muddy adventures a breeze.
  5. The doors are super easy to remove and reinstall.

Cons:

  1. It’s LOUD on the highway—almost impossible to hold a conversation.
  2. The soft top is frustrating to use, and even aftermarket options weren’t much better.
  3. Random electronic glitches like the dash resetting while driving. Ford couldn’t figure them out.
  4. Back seats aren’t comfortable—too upright with no lights, cupholders, or AC vents.

I recently sold it and got a 2022 TRD Pro Tundra. My wife made me agree to no new cars for four years, so let’s see if I stick to that lol. Any other Bronco owners here? How has your experience been?

Sounds like the washout interior might be why it’s so loud. Trapping water under insulation could lead to mold, so maybe it’s intentional?

Yeah, soundproofing isn’t a priority with these vehicles. Between the washout interior, soft top, and mud tires, it’s not meant to be quiet.

@Kai
My Jeep’s loud too—it’s just part of owning these types of vehicles lol.

Exactly, it’s all part of the fun.

You could always add some insulation under the mats like they do in trucks with vinyl floors.

Doesn’t the soft top make it louder? Seems like that’d be a big factor.

I’ve driven hardtop Broncos too, and honestly, they’re just as loud. There’s almost no soundproofing in the doors or elsewhere.

The electronics glitching like that sounds scary. Did it happen often?

It was about once a month, including the day before I sold it. Ford couldn’t figure out what caused it.

I’ve had several Fords, and luckily, I’ve never experienced those kinds of issues. Might be a hit-or-miss thing.

Were the back seats really that bad? No cupholders or AC vents? Seems like a weird oversight.

Yep, pretty barebones back there. Aftermarket cupholder options exist, but it should’ve been standard.

How’s the Tundra been compared to the Bronco?

The Tundra’s been great! Much quieter and more practical for daily use. I definitely miss the Bronco’s off-road fun, though.
