I really want to get a Bronco

Hi everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about getting a Bronco, either the Black Diamond or Outer Banks trim. I’ve never really bought anything cool or fancy for myself, and I’m 40 now. Always lived a simple life and even bought a car recently that just doesn’t feel right in terms of comfort. The only thing it has going for it is the good gas mileage—around 31 MPG. But I’ve seen that the Bronco gets 17 MPG, which has me thinking because my commute is long, about 32 miles and 1 hour each way.

I live in the Midwest, and winters are really rough with all the snow. Having a Bronco would make winter driving so much easier. Thanks for reading and for any advice!

I have a 4-door Badlands, and it’s a joy to drive. Life is short, so I say enjoy it while you can. If you’re concerned about the environment, maybe look into ways to balance things out like planting trees.

@Finn
Totally agree with this. Couldn’t have said it better!

@Finn
I’m with you on the 4-door Badlands! This is my first brand new car too, and it’s special. Driving through 9 inches of snow last winter was so fun!

If you don’t turn around to look at your car after parking it, you bought the wrong one.

Haha, I do this way more than I care to admit.

I live in Wisconsin, and my 2-door Black Diamond with snow tires is a beast in the snow. I also try to save money, so I went for the Black Diamond trim because it’s the cheapest one with heated seats, which are a must in winter. Driving in snow with this thing is amazing! The donuts you can do with trail turn assist at just 10 mph make winter driving a lot more fun.

@Darwin
You can get heated seats in the Big Bend trim too, which is one step down from Black Diamond.

Oh, you’re right. And the price difference is bigger now than it was in early 2021 when I ordered mine.

@Darwin
I’m in Wisconsin too and got a '23 Big Bend with the 2.7L. I kind of wish I went with Black Diamond because of the rubberized flooring.

You can add heated seats to any car for about $500.

I have the Black Diamond with the 2.3L engine, and I’m getting about 21 MPG.

I have a ‘78 Ranger XLT with the 460 V8, and on a good day, I get 9.5-10 MPG.

Do you drive mostly in the city or on the highway?

Mostly on suburban roads at around 50 mph.

@Quinlan
Thank you :heart:

You’re in your car for hours every day. It’s worth spending money on something you’ll enjoy driving.

Treat yourself! You only live once, and people will ask you about the Bronco. I got mine in early 2023, and I get asked about it all the time. What’s making you lean towards those trims? Are you planning on off-roading?

@Paxton
Thanks for the reply! I’m not planning on doing any off-roading at all. It’s mostly going to be for city driving. I don’t know much about the trims, but I see Black Diamond and Outer Banks a lot. Any advice on which trim might fit my needs?

@Kingsley
If you’re not off-roading, go with the Outer Banks or Big Bend. Black Diamond is heavier and more focused on off-road features, which will lower your MPG. Outer Banks has more comfort features and might be the better choice for you. Big Bend with the mid package can also get you heated seats and other nice features for less money.
