Does anyone else want a fixed roof on their Bronco?

I love the Bronco and really want one, but the noise level is a big deal for me. Didn’t older Broncos have a solid metal roof that wasn’t removable?

The open-air feature is cool, but I’d give it up for a quieter ride since I rarely use it. Am I the only one who feels this way? I’d love to hear your thoughts… maybe Ford is watching this forum?

A lot of the noise comes from the frameless doors, which is just part of the design. If noise is a major concern, a 4Runner or something similar might be a better fit.

I’ve heard you can add soundproofing to the doors, floors, and wheel wells to help with noise. That just leaves the roof.

@Tenny
Maybe, but I don’t think it would make a huge difference. I can’t take calls in mine over 50 mph, which I knew when I bought it.

If you’ve got a newer iPhone, try turning on voice isolation. I can take calls in my soft-top Bronco at 80 mph, but I do have to avoid shouting. Voice isolation is great for cutting out background noise.

@Cai
I use it on my iPad, and it’s crazy how well it works. My friend couldn’t even hear me washing dishes during a video call.

@Cai
Does it work through Bluetooth in the car? Also, will it help me hear the other person better?

It works with Bluetooth. It filters out wind and background noise for the other person, but you’ll still need to turn up your volume to hear them clearly.

@Tenny
You can use something like Dynamat for the floors and doors. It helps reduce noise but won’t completely solve it, especially if you have loud tires. It’s more effective for improving sound quality inside the car.

If you want a solid roof, you’re probably better off with a Bronco Sport, Explorer, or any other SUV with a fixed roof.

We took our 2-door hardtop on a 9-hour drive, and it was noisier than our Sequoia, but not terrible. It’s just part of the trade-off when buying a vehicle like this.

Good to know! Maybe it’s not as bad as I’ve read. I’ll have to find one with a hardtop to test drive. Thanks!

@Tenny
I just got a hardtop and was surprised it didn’t bother me as much as I expected. I’m usually sensitive to noise, but this didn’t annoy me at all.

@Tenny
I have a 2022 Bronco with the hardtop and sound-deadening liner. It’s fine for calls on regular roads at 45 mph. On the highway, I’d lower speed to 65 for calls, but music and audiobooks are no issue. The upgraded sound system helps.

@Tenny
It’s as noisy as people say, but it’s still an awesome ride. Just don’t expect it to be quiet.

There’s a hardtop and a soft-top option. Some third-party options exist, but they’re all removable.

I might not understand the options well. Is the MIC top considered a hardtop? I thought it was just plastic.

@Tenny
MIC is the hardtop.

I’ve got a 2024 Heritage with a hardtop and haven’t had any noise problems. Maybe others are just overly sensitive to sound.

Adding a roof rack, rooftop tent, and a fairing up front really helped cut down the noise for me.
