Cargo Management System question… can it lay flat?

I’ve got a random question for anyone with a Cargo Management System (CMS). Can you lay it unfolded on the floor of the trunk? I’ve circled the spot I’m asking about in the pic.

I’m thinking about getting a car with the CMS, but I also want to do some car camping. Wondering if I could store the CMS flat when I set up an air mattress, or does it need to be placed somewhere else (I know I could always throw it on the roof if needed). Maybe it would help level the mattress since the seats are slightly slanted?

Yes, it lays flat. When I need more space, I fold the CMS in half and store it vertically in the storage slot right behind the split seats. I’ll try to add some photos, but I usually run into issues with that.

@Kai
Wait, what? It has a storage slot? I had no clue! Thanks for the heads-up.

Same here! I’ve been keeping it in my garage this whole time.

Yep, it’s a Cargo Management System, not just a table to block your cargo.

It can also slide into other grooves in the rails as a divider. And the slot in the shelf can slide along the rails too.

Yeah, you fold it in half and slide it along the back of the rear seats. It’s like a second layer of protection back there.

Here’s the full measurements for anyone interested:

Thanks, that’s super helpful!

When I go car camping, I lay it flat on the floorboard of the back seats. It fits under the mattress perfectly.

Why not just leave it on its tracks with the mattress underneath? For sleeping, it doesn’t really work, but you could set it outside and bring it in when needed.

I could do that, but I was just wondering if there was a cleaner way to store it inside when it’s raining, so I’m not putting it back in wet.

@Zen
You could always put it in the front seat, rear footwell, under the car, or even under the air mattress if you’re in a pinch.

I wish this could’ve been an add-on option when I ordered my car. I would’ve gladly paid extra for it.

Well, good news! You can still pay a lot to add it now :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

I’m more curious about that box in the picture. Is it a first aid kit? Roadside kit? Where’d you get it? The colors match so well!

I actually just grabbed that pic off the internet, sorry!

I think it might be the Cargo Organizer that’s part of this set: https://www.ford.com/product/cargo-organizer-rear-sunvisor-organizer-p2839060275.
