Bronco owners... how's your ride holding up after a year?

Thinking of getting a Bronco. MPG doesn’t bother me, but I’m curious about reliability. Any issues? Cost to fix? How’s Ford handling warranty repairs?

Also, what’s the difference between the 35" and 32" tires?

Edit: Seems reliable overall, except for the windshield.

No major problems so far. But yeah, the windshield seems to attract chips.

Windshields should have some coverage.
I’ve got a 2022 Bronco 2.3 4-door with no major issues.

Hate to break it to you, but most warranties don’t cover chipped windshields. Trust me on this.

@Bell
Mine had an initial warranty for $500, which got me a free windshield replacement at the dealership. An OEM replacement is $1,100 now.

After 2 years, my coverage increased to $750. I’m on my third windshield and probably replacing it again soon—those rock chips just don’t stop, especially when driving 500 miles a week.

I got hit with a rock 400 miles in. Bought a rock deflector, and now I’m 12,000 miles with no new dings. Could be just luck!

@Marley
What’s a rock deflector?

It’s also called a bug deflector. Goes on the front of the hood to help redirect rocks. There’s also a film for the windshield, but I’ve heard it can yellow or mess with wipers. Anyone with firsthand experience?

@Marley
Careful, you might’ve jinxed yourself! :joy:

3 years in, and I’ve replaced the windshield every 6 months. Living in Arizona means rocks everywhere.

@Luca
Same. Arizona freeways and Broncos do not get along.

Love the Bronco, but I’m not a fan of the cheap interior plastics—they scratch so easily. Also, the sun visor makes some weird noises.

Totally agree.

No big issues, just a couple of recalls that were free. My city MPG is around 17, with a lifetime average of 19 from road trips.

Biggest challenge is finding a car wash for the soft top—most places have brushes, and I can’t hand wash where I live. Overall, no regrets, except maybe paying $5k over MSRP when Broncos were hard to find. I needed a car and wanted this one, so I’m okay with it.

@Alby
Soft tops are fine in brush washes once in a while. Just take off the antenna first. Otherwise, stick to brushless.

@Alby
At my car wash, they turn off the top brush when they see my Bronco. Try asking an attendant!

@Alby
If hand washing isn’t an option, try these:

  • ONR with a sponge and microfiber towels (wash and dry in one go)
  • Speed Shine for quick cleanups between washes

Still hunting for the perfect tire cleaner, though.

@Alby
Wow, it’s like you’re describing my life. Same here.

CarPlay can be glitchy, but that’s more on Apple than Ford. Once had the infotainment freeze, but a restart fixed it.

After 2 years and 30k miles (including coast-to-coast trips), no real issues.

Some glitches with Apple CarPlay and the speakers, but restarting the car usually fixes it. My favorite feature is starting the car with my phone—so handy in winter!
