Took me 3 weeks to find out my car had remote start… anyone else?

I had no idea my car had remote start until three weeks after I bought it. Just stumbled on the feature while messing around. Turns out, it’s part of the FordPass app, but nobody told me at the dealership. Has this happened to anyone else? What other features might I be missing?

Most salespeople these days don’t bother explaining anything. Every Bronco Sport comes with remote start through the FordPass app. My coworker has a Maverick and didn’t know it had remote start either. He saw me using it and was blown away. He’d had his truck for two years without knowing!

Wow, I guess I got lucky. My salesperson explained everything and even helped me set up the FordPass app. They went over all the features, even small stuff like how the car puts itself in park if you open the door while auto-stop is on. Shout out to Pat Milliken Ford in Redford, MI!

@Fallon
Same here. My salesperson had me set up the app while they detailed my car.

@Fallon
Mine did that too. He even helped me name my car in the app. I went with Baby Goat because I had no better ideas!

It’s crazy that some dealerships don’t bother explaining basic features. When I got my Bronco, I had to explain Off-Roadeo to my salesperson—they didn’t even know what it was. Why is it on me, the buyer, to know more about the car than the staff?

@Keegan
This is why dealerships are on their way out. I’d rather buy directly from the manufacturer.

Same. The post-COVID markups are ridiculous, and Tesla has already shown that the direct model works. Also, I’m tired of being charged extra for basic diagnostic checks when I already have a warranty. We need laws to allow direct sales nationwide.

@Keegan
My salesperson was great. She helped set up the app and showed me all the features. I was surprised at how much the car could do.

@Keegan
What’s this Off-Roadeo thing? I keep getting emails about it but thought it was spam. I have a 2023 Big Bend—does that matter?

It’s a one-day training course where pros teach you how to off-road and use your car’s features in real terrain. There are a few locations to choose from. When I got my Bronco, it was only for certain trims, but they may have expanded it.

@Keegan
Just a heads-up: there’s a $150 refundable deposit, a $50 registration fee, and optional $75 insurance to cover damage. Lodging isn’t included. Still worth it, though!

@Keegan
They’ve opened it to all trims now, but some features like Rock Mode are exclusive to higher trims.

I went to the Tennessee location on their opening day. Learned so much about off-roading and what the Bronco can do. Highly recommend it.

@Zen
My salesperson took the time to explain everything, even though I had already ordered the car myself. It was a nice touch.

@Zen
Sounds like a bad dealership. Where I work, we make sure every customer is set up with the app and knows how it works. Some people don’t need help, but we always double-check.

@Zen
It’s kind of misleading how Ford markets remote start as an extra feature when it’s available through the app for free. I almost paid more for a model with the remote button on the fob, but luckily my salesperson pointed out that the app does the same thing.

@Zen
You just blew my mind. I have a 2021 model, and I bought it used, so I had no idea this feature existed!

My salesperson made sure I set up the app and showed me how to use it. Remote start from an app is awesome!

Mine did too! I almost paid more for a higher model just for the remote start button, but he told me the app could do it. Saved me money.
