Thinking about getting a Bronco… what’s the real deal?

I’ve been thinking about buying a Bronco and wanted to hear from folks who already have one. What are the good and bad things you’ve experienced with yours? What made you decide on the Bronco, and did you give up anything to make the switch? Was it worth it?

For me, I’ve always loved the classic Broncos from the late 60s and early 70s. Recently, life has shifted a bit for us, and we’re looking for something that fits a more adventurous lifestyle. Right now, I’m leaning toward a Badlands with the 2.7 V6. Still can’t decide if I want a 2-door or a 4-door though. Also wondering if I should just keep my current car and get something like an older FJ Cruiser. What do you think?

I feel like your questions come up a lot in this forum. Maybe take a look through some of the posts here. For me, the Bronco was the only SUV I could find with 4 doors, storage space, and a manual transmission. I also like how it pulls some design cues from classic cars of the 60s.

@Taj
What kind of design cues are you talking about? From Mustangs or the classic Broncos? Curious because I love both.

Mainly the raised rear panel and the hood shape. Also, the angled roll cage gives off some of that vintage Mustang coupe vibe.

@Taj
Got it. Yeah, that angled cage does kind of remind me of the Mustang’s shape from the side.

Pros: It’s unique, handles off-road amazingly, and rides more comfortably than its main competition. There’s also a great community around it.

Cons: It’s still new, so long-term reliability isn’t clear yet.

I’ve loved Broncos since I was a kid. When they announced the new one, I knew I had to get it. I originally ordered a 2023 Heritage edition, but I found a Badlands at MSRP and jumped on it. Ended up with a 4-door hardtop Sasquatch with the Lux package and V6. No regrets.

@Poe
Are Heritage editions even available now? I really want a 2-door but feel like it’s impossible to find one.

2-doors are on pause right now. Dealers near me still have some 4-doors though.

@Poe
That’s a bummer. I guess I’ll just keep waiting for now.

Yeah, it sucks, but maybe keep an eye out. Sometimes abandoned orders pop up.

I’ve always loved Broncos. My first car was an old one, and when they brought them back, I knew I had to get one. I went with a Big Bend Sasquatch, 2.7L V6, in Area 51 color. Picked the 4-door since it’s my daily driver, and I’ve got kids. Added roof racks for surfboards and chose the modular bumper because it looks tough. Totally worth it!

I’ve got a 4-door Badlands Sasquatch with the 2.7. Here’s my take:

Pros: It’s spacious and rides better than a Jeep. Visibility is great, and the 360 camera is a lifesaver in tight spaces.

Cons: It’s loud inside, and the gas mileage isn’t great compared to other SUVs. Some passengers complain about the step-in height, so side steps are a must.

Overall, I love it. It’s a bit rougher than a regular SUV, but compared to a Jeep, it’s a win.

I got the Bronco because I wanted something capable of climbing mountains. Went with a 4-door Badlands for the space and extra features. It’s not a Jeep, but it holds its own.
