I’ve been driving an F150 for a while now, but the Bronco Sport caught my eye because of its price. For those of you who own one, how does it drive? What do you love or not like about it?
I sold my F150 and got a Bronco Sport. No regrets at all!
It’s not a truck, so don’t expect it to handle like one. But for what it is, it’s a great ride.
I’ve got a 2018 F150 and my wife drives a Bronco Sport. We both really like it. My only issue is the flat seats. I’m 5’10" and sometimes my hips feel a bit off after long trips. My wife is 5’2" and has no issues with it, though. Ours is the Big Bend trim without upgraded seats. There are seat shims you can get to tilt them back a bit, but we didn’t bother since my wife is comfortable.
It drives well, the suspension is firm but not uncomfortable, and it feels stable in corners. The AWD is great too, and you don’t really need to switch modes. Just remember, it’s not going to haul like an F150.
I took one on a six-hour trip. It was fine, but the seats (Heritage model) felt pretty flat. It’s a bit small for my needs, so I went with an Explorer instead. If the size works for you, go for it. I’d recommend the Badlands trim for the larger engine.
@Storm
The bigger engine is worth it if you’re doing off-road driving or towing heavy loads. Otherwise, the 3-cylinder works just fine for daily use.

How about long-term reliability?
@Phoenix
The 1.5 engine has been around since 2017 and has shown good reliability compared to other EcoBoost engines from the past decade.
The Bronco Sport is a solid option. My wife loves her 2023 Big Bend. If you still want something closer to a truck, maybe check out the Maverick. I’ve got a ‘22 hybrid XLT and it’s been awesome. Planning to upgrade to the ‘25 model with AWD and a tow package.
I just got mine a few days ago, so I might be a little biased, but I really like it so far.
I want a Bronco Sport, but my dad says there have been big recalls, and he’s worried it’s unsafe and might leave me stranded. What do you all think?

We just bought a used ‘22 Bronco. Recalls were on my mind too, but honestly, which car doesn’t have a recall these days? Ours only had one recall, and it’s already been taken care of.

I’ve heard similar concerns, but it seems to mostly affect the first edition from 2021. Would love to hear more from others on this.
I’m a Chevy fan but bought a 2021 Bronco Sport OBX. I’ve got 30k miles on it with no problems. It’s a great little SUV with good gas mileage. I’d buy it again.
Way easier to park compared to my work F150.
I’ve got a 2018 F150 and a 2021 Bronco Sport Big Bend. The Sport is my go-to for snowy roads—better balance and AWD. My next ride will probably be a Maverick since I need a bed and towing.
It really depends on how often you need to do ‘truck stuff.’ Coming from an Escape, I liked the Bronco Sport’s design and features. The 3-cylinder engine performs well and gives me about 30mpg. It handles nicely, even on mountain grades, and has everything I wanted for a lot less than an F150.
I’m 6’4" and find the seats a bit uncomfortable, and there’s not much room in the back. But it’s great for city driving and occasional trips on logging roads.
Underneath, it’s based on the Escape platform, which is based on the Focus. So yeah, it kind of drives like a Focus.
It’s fun to drive and looks cool. The seats could be better, but overall, it’s a solid car. I have the Big Bend trim with the 3-cylinder engine. While I’m a little worried about how it’ll hold up in the long run, Ford has made a ton of these engines, so they must be decent.
