Thinking about buying… is it worth it?
I’ve had mine for a year now, and I absolutely love it. No other car has made me look forward to driving this much. It’s such a fun vehicle, but there are definitely some trade-offs. The newer trims are quite different from the earlier models, so be sure to check out what’s changed before deciding.
I’ve been driving a 2021 Big Bend daily, and I love it. My commute is around an hour round trip, and while it’s not the most fuel-efficient car, it’s not the worst either. I’ve noticed it performs better with higher-quality gas.
I’ve had a few minor issues with the transmission and battery life, but nothing major. Off-road, it’s super capable, and despite having a soft top, the AC works great in the summer, and road noise isn’t as bad as I expected. I’d buy it again in a heartbeat, but I was lucky to get mine before prices went crazy.

Some common issues to watch for include valve stem problems with the 2.7L engine (mostly 2021 models) and some electrical quirks—pretty typical for Ford vehicles. If you’re looking for more detailed answers, forums like Bronco6G are super helpful. Here’s a quick rundown from my research:
Pros:
- It looks amazing.
- Convertible feature is awesome.
- Great off-road capabilities.
- Not made by Stellantis.
Cons:
- Being a Ford, reliability might not match a 4Runner.
- Convertible design means more road noise.
- Replacement parts can take a while to get.
- Aftermarket options aren’t as widespread as Jeep.
- As a newer car, it still has some bugs to iron out.
- Prices are a bit high.
If you’re patient, the hype might settle down, and prices could drop. I’d recommend test-driving a few trims, especially the Wildtrak. It’s worth comparing hardtop and soft top options to see what fits your needs. Best of luck!

Glad I could help! Just a heads-up, you’ll likely see more complaints than pros when browsing forums. People are quicker to point out flaws than positives. Also, depending on where you live, buying out of state might save you money. Dealers in less populated areas often have better deals. Good luck!
What’s your limit for depreciation?
I’ve got a 2021 with 45k miles and haven’t had any major issues, aside from a few recalls.
You can get peace of mind with an extended warranty. Some Ford dealers sell them online for way less than local ones, and they’re honored nationwide. I love mine—it’s become a part of my personality at this point. Just be sure to use good gas and change the oil regularly. These engines don’t handle buildup well.
Try finding a certified pre-owned one with a 100k warranty and enjoy it!
My wife and I have had a 2021 since late 2021, and it’s been great. She drives it daily with no issues. The soft top does let in a bit more noise, and it can feel chilly in the winter, but you get used to it.
I’m loving my 2022 Base-Squatch. Best value out there in my opinion, and I got mine for $43k new!
