Should I buy a '24 or wait for the '25?

I’m looking at sub-compact SUVs and leaning toward the Big Bend Bronco Sport with the convenience and co-pilot packages. Local dealers are offering it for about $30K before taxes and fees. I have a few questions:

  1. Is $30K a fair price for the '24 Big Bend with these features?
  2. Should I hold off for the '25 model? I like the bigger dashboard but worry about losing physical controls.
  3. Any advice or things I should consider?

Appreciate any input!

30K sounds solid for a '24. The '25 mostly changes the infotainment system to Sync 4, but not much else.

Doesn’t the '25 come with a new engine too?

No, it doesn’t.

@Yan
Actually, it does. The new engine, called MPC, replaces the current Dragon series. It’s already in the 2023 Escape and will come in 1.5 and 2.0L versions for the '25 Bronco Sports.

I’d wait. The upgrades, especially for off-road packages, are nice.

@Darian
The Sasquatch package just brings the clearance up to what the '24 Badlands already has. You also get tow hooks and a hitch shackle option. The '24 already offers solid features.

Sync 4 and the surround camera are nice features, but if those don’t appeal to you, the wait might not be worth it.

@Darian
For the cost of the Sasquatch package, you could add a lift kit, skid plates, and more. You’d end up with better protection and clearance for less money.

It’s personal preference. I can’t live without physical controls for things like temperature and volume. But the upgrades on the newer models look cool.

The bigger dashboard looks nice, but I’d miss the analog controls. They seem slower in the demo videos.

@Rio
I think Sync 3 is the weakest part of my car. It lags, and Apple CarPlay sometimes doesn’t work. I wouldn’t want all the controls tied to it unless they’ve improved it.

My car randomly blasts the radio at full volume near my house every morning. It’s terrifying but hilarious. Keeps things interesting!

'25 Pros:

  • Sync 4 with Android Auto
  • Sasquatch option
  • New engine options

'24 Pros:

  • Heavily discounted prices
  • Physical controls
  • Good clearance

For what you’d spend on the '25 Sasquatch package, you could upgrade a '24 with better accessories and still save money.

@Hayden
Can older models like the '22 OBX be upgraded to Sasquatch?

Nope, only the '25 and newer. Someone might try once the parts are available, though.

I got a '23 earlier this year with 0% APR. If they offer that for the '24s next year, it might be worth jumping on.

Yeah, the APR deals aren’t great right now. The CX-30 has a better offer at 0%.

Did they offer any discounts along with the 0% APR?

Nope, cash incentives are usually off the table with 0%. But you can still negotiate the sale price. I drove a few hours to get the best deal.
