Hey everyone, I just got my brand new Bronco on Saturday night. Tried starting it Sunday morning, and although the battery isn’t dead, it seems like there’s an issue with the starter. Is there anyone here who knows how I can get this checked on a Sunday? Do I really have to wait until the weekday when I have no time for this?
As mentioned earlier, try disconnecting the battery for a while, reconnect it, and see if that helps. If not, I’d suggest calling the dealer. If your plans get messed up, that’s frustrating, but since it’s a brand new car, the dealer should be 100% responsible for fixing it.
Wishing you a quick fix and no stress with your new ride. That can be so frustrating!
Now I have another issue. I bought this car in Indiana while visiting my mom on Thanksgiving weekend. Will my local dealer in Illinois be able to take care of me, even though I didn’t buy it from them?
@Jody
Yes, you can take it to any local Ford dealer. They’ll honor the manufacturer warranty, no matter where you bought it from.
@Jody
Any Ford dealer can help. Some might give you better service than others, but they’ll still service the Bronco and fix your problem.
First question, is it a manual or automatic? If it’s automatic, remember you need your foot on the brake to start it. If it’s manual, you need to press the clutch fully. I own both, and I’ve only had trouble when I forget to fully press the clutch. You might just need to adjust your seat to reach the clutch properly. If you want to reset everything, you can pull the battery cable, but with a new car, I wouldn’t recommend doing that.
Try towing it to your local Ford service center first thing tomorrow. They should provide you with a free loaner vehicle since your car is new and still under warranty. I’m not sure if you’ll find a place open on Sunday, and it won’t be under warranty if it’s not a Ford service center. Sorry this happened!
Update! I called someone through the Ford Pass app, and they came over to jump it. The battery wasn’t low enough to not start. They checked the starter, tapped it, and moved some wires around. It started right up and hasn’t had any issues since. Does anyone know if the stop-start feature that turns the engine off when you’re at a red light uses the starter every time?
@Jody
Yes, the stop-start function uses the starter. You can temporarily turn it off with the switch that has an ‘A’ and a circle around it, located on the dash above the heat controls.

Does this model have the same braking assist as the Sport? When you’re stopped at a red light, it holds the brake for you, but I can’t seem to find it.
@Jody
I’m not sure, mine is a manual transmission. You could try searching the manual on the infotainment screen.
I would disconnect the battery for an hour, then try starting it again.
Same thing happened to me last weekend, the day after I got my new Bronco. The battery was low. I boosted it, drove it around for a few hours, and it seemed fine. Took it to the dealer on Monday, they tested the battery, and everything was fine. Looks like Ford isn’t delivering these with a fully charged battery.
Any dealership should be able to help you with this.
