How bad is it if my truck has been sitting for 2 years… can it be saved?

Here’s what it looks like: https://placehold.co/600x400.png

I’ll have to take off the weatherstripping and check how bad it is. Hopefully, it’s a quick fix.

Another pic for you: https://placehold.co/600x400.png

Thanks! I checked the passenger side, and it looks fine. I might replace the weatherstripping on both sides when I fix the driver’s side.

RIP = Rust in Pieces

Have you checked the plastic door sills to see if the rust goes back even further?

Not yet, but I’ll check next time I’m there.

It feels like finding a cavity at the dentist.

What kind of skills do you have? You can learn from YouTube and do it yourself. It’s a lot of work, but possible. I’ve worked on trucks in worse condition.

I don’t have much experience with bodywork, but I’m willing to take my time. My brother has been practicing welding, so I might get his help.

@Hart
It’s more like fabrication than bodywork. You could use a MIG welder or screws to do it. Look up Cleco clamps for holding pieces together while you work. They’re super useful.

You should sell it and get a truck from a dry state instead. But be careful with flooded trucks hitting the market soon.

This one came from North Carolina before the guy I bought it from moved it to Massachusetts. Unfortunately, living in New England, it won’t stay in good condition unless I keep it in a garage.
