Got Some Questions About The Ford Bronco

Hey everyone. I’m really interested in getting a new Bronco, but I’ve been having trouble finding clear answers to some things. I was hoping someone here might be able to help me out or at least point me in the right direction. Thanks for any help.

  1. How wide are the front seats?
  2. Is the sound-dampening headliner on the hard top worth the extra cost?
  3. What’s your experience with marine-grade vinyl vs leather? I want something durable that still looks nice after some wear.
    3a. Is marine-grade vinyl available on any trims besides Badlands? I’ve tried building a few versions on Ford’s website, and the Badlands seems to be the only trim with it. I’m not a fan of some of the two-tone options. Can it be added to other trims?
  4. Should I get accessories like the modular bumper through Ford, or is aftermarket a better choice?
    4b. How’s the factory roof rack system? Is it worth getting, or should I go aftermarket?
  5. Can you turn off the startup sound system beeps? It’s kinda annoying every time I start the car.
  6. Has anyone heard of an option for captain’s chairs in the back instead of a bench seat?
  1. Do you need an exact measurement? They’re pretty wide and comfortable.

  2. Yes, definitely worth it.

  3. Vinyl is great for durability, but it doesn’t breathe well. If you’re in a hot area, it might get sweaty. Leather and cloth breathe better, but vinyl is super durable. Black Diamond trim also has vinyl, but no, you can’t add it to other trims during the build. Ford doesn’t do custom options like that.

  4. If you’re set on certain accessories, it’s easier to get them from the factory. You won’t have to pay for dealership installation later, and prices are often better from the factory. The modular bumper isn’t my thing, but the roof rack is nice.

  5. I don’t think so. I’ve just gotten used to the sound.

  6. Doubtful, without a third row, captain’s chairs seem unlikely.

@Aki
Just to add, have you been in a Jeep Wrangler? The Bronco is built for similar rugged use, but the Bronco is better on regular roads. Don’t expect a lot more space than a Jeep though.

I don’t agree with that. The Wrangler feels much smaller inside compared to the Bronco, especially in the 4-door model.

@Aki
True, it’s bigger and more comfortable, but it’s no Suburban. I’ve had trouble packing for camping trips with four people in the car. Ended up using the front passenger seat and one of the back seats for gear.

  1. Album — Postimages

  2. I’ve been happy with the marine-grade vinyl so far, but I haven’t tested it in hot weather yet. My wife likes how easy it is to clean.

  3. I think you can turn off the startup sound using Forscan. I stopped messing with mine after I disabled the double honk when you walk away with the keys in your pocket.

That makes sense. I’ll probably get some kind of roof cargo system, but it’s good to know about the space limitations for camping gear. We need more room but don’t want something as big as a Suburban. Thanks for the info!

@Aki
Thanks for the input! That’s really helpful.

@Tatum
I like the look of the vinyl more than the other options I’ve seen in videos. I might get custom seats later, but for now, I need something easy to clean with two young boys. Plus, I don’t want leather that scratches easily. My Tundra’s leather looks worn out, and it’s not very durable.

Thanks for the pictures! Really helpful.

  1. Front seat width is 56 inches.

  2. I’ve heard the factory sound-dampening headliner flakes easily. You might be better off getting a higher-quality aftermarket version.

  3. There are some great aftermarket options out now. I have the modular bumper, but I plan to upgrade to a bumper/winch combo once I find one that doesn’t block the sensors or front camera.

  4. You can disable the startup beeps and other stuff like the double honk using Forscan.

  5. No plans for captain’s chairs that I’ve heard of.

@Ben
Thanks! I appreciate the info.
