Picked this up and got some plans for it. Gonna be a fun build
Frame looks solid… is that spray paint or something like POR 15?

Bought it like this, but it’s definitely not paint. Feels way thicker. We’ll see how it holds up. Told my kids that once they move out, I’m putting serious time and money into some upgrades.
That looks clean… I’m putting a 14-inch lift on mine now. My ‘94 is completely torn apart for a solid axle swap, lift, and new motor. It’s gonna be a beast.

That sounds wild! I’m keeping this one mostly stock since it’s for my daughters’ softball trips, but I love seeing big builds like that.
Wish we had rust-free trucks like that out here in the northeast. Enjoy working on it, man! I had a blast fixing up my ‘89 and ‘90.

Yeah, I actually flew to Denver and drove it back to Iowa. That trip really showed me what it needed!
@Teo
What did it need? Full rebuild or just some small fixes?

Had a solid oil leak that someone tried to patch up real bad. Passenger-side oil passages were clogged too, and it ran hot. The original thermostat and fan clutch were toast. Just wanted something fun and reliable to take to games without needing a degree in electrical work. Ended up getting a motor with a 3-year warranty, so that’s some peace of mind.
@Teo
Did you go with Jasper for the motor?
If that’s a ‘92-‘96, it should have a removable panel in the transmission tunnel to make getting to the top bolts super easy. Just peel back the carpet and it’s right there. Noticed it wasn’t pulled in your pics—makes life a lot easier!
@Hadi
Good to know! My wife’s stepdad helped me pull it, and between the two of us, it wasn’t too bad. Definitely gonna pop that panel off when putting it back in.
Love this kind of stuff… one of the reasons I joined this forum. Wish we saw more of these builds here.

Same here! I had to go all the way to Denver to find one in decent shape.
That grin in the first pic says it all… worth every penny!

Having a blast already. Hoping for an early spring so I can get it out of the garage sooner rather than later!
