Anyone having issues with Bronco reliability?

I loved the Bronco when it launched but didn’t want to pay the high markups. Now I’m seeing 2023 models on lots, and dealers seem open to negotiating. I’m thinking of buying one but want to know if reliability has improved. Any issues with build quality or red flags I should know about?

My 2023 has been solid so far—no major problems. I do have the common CarPlay glitch where it disconnects randomly, though.

Same here with CarPlay. Mine doesn’t disconnect while driving, but sometimes it won’t play sound after I restart the car. I reset the system by holding a couple of buttons, and it works fine after that.

@Noah
When the sound issue happens, I usually disconnect and reconnect CarPlay from my phone. That fixes it quickly.

I’ll try that next time. For now, I just hold down the power and forward buttons to reset it, which is easy enough while driving.

It’s interesting to hear this is a Bronco issue. I drive a Ford Transit for work, and the radio glitches too. Makes me think it’s a Ford-wide problem, not just the Bronco.

@Finley
You might be right. I’ve only had the issue with wireless CarPlay, though. It’s been fine when using a cable.

@Finley
I think it’s more of an Apple CarPlay issue. My Jeep and Nissan Rogue do this too.

@Noah
Mine sometimes only plays sound from the passenger side speakers. Thankfully, the reset shortcut fixes it.

Reset shortcut? How do you do that?

Hold the power button and skip forward button until the screen goes black. It’ll reboot the system.

@Caden
Power button as in the volume knob, and skip forward as the track change button? Thanks for clarifying.

Yep, that’s the one!

I’ve had this issue on my 2011 Mustang for years. Annoying that it’s still happening.

For me, CarPlay usually disconnects when I’m near areas with lots of interference. On long trips, I stick to wired CarPlay to avoid issues.

11,000 miles on the odometer. It’s a 2023 Black Diamond 2-door with the 2.7L engine. Had the oil changed at 5,000 miles, and I’ll do another change once the inspection comes due in about a month.

I applied white lithium WD-40 to the tailgate latch. Apple CarPlay can be a bit finicky at times, which is frustrating. I’m planning to grease the rubber seals to address a minor squeak or rattle from the rear window. The Shadow Black paint tends to scratch easily, so I have to be extra careful when cleaning or off-roading.

Riding on 35-inch tires, it still feels as smooth as a sedan. The turbos perform wonderfully. I’ve had the roof off for the past few days, and it’s been a stunning experience. The factory auxiliary switches are extremely convenient and user-friendly, making it simple for even a novice to install aftermarket accessories.

All in all, I’d give the 2-door model a solid 10 out of 10 and would wholeheartedly recommend it.

@Remi
It’s amazing how well the Bronco performs with 35-inch tires.

I’ve got a 2-door Badlands Sasquatch with the 2.3L engine. It’s been reliable despite some serious off-road use, but there are a few minor problems:

  • Driver’s door sags and rubs the kick plate
  • Passenger seat heater burned a hole in the seat
  • Wireless Android Auto won’t stay connected
  • Door pocket netting wore out quickly

@Hollis
Three of my doors were loose when I got mine. The dealer said it was ‘normal,’ so I just adjusted them myself. It wasn’t hard, but it’s frustrating to deal with on a new car.

How did you tighten the doors?
