Anyone else miss those old truncated trucks

Remember those short, fun trucks from the ‘80s and ‘90s? Stuff like the Isuzu Amigo, Ford Bronco (second-gen), and Chevy Blazer. They were basically pickup trucks with the bed turned into a semi-open seating area, often with a removable top. Super versatile, easy to drive, and way more fun than all the overbuilt, premium SUVs we have now. I feel like nothing really fills that gap today. Anyone else think these need to make a comeback?

Dude, I LOVED the Amigo. Had one back in the day and it was the perfect mix of truck and fun-mobile.

Right? It was basically a pickup but way more useful for daily life. Why did these disappear?

@Vail
Probably because everything got bigger and fancier. Automakers aren’t making ‘fun’ cars anymore, just ‘lifestyle vehicles’ lol.

What’s a ‘truncated truck’? Never heard that term before.

Basically a short pickup where the bed was replaced with seating or an open cargo space. Think early Broncos or Blazers.

@Aris
Ahh, got it. So kinda like a Jeep, but more truck-like?

Jeep Gladiator is kinda close, but it’s too big. We need a smaller version of that.

Yeah, a two-door Ford Maverick would be perfect. But no way Ford does that now.

Man, I forgot about those Amigo commercials. They really leaned into the fun aspect of those trucks.

The Slinky parody one? Absolute classic. Commercials today are so boring compared to that.

Everything is too ‘premium’ now. We need cheap, simple, fun cars again.

100%. Not everything needs to be a luxury SUV. Some of us just want a cool, practical ride that doesn’t cost a fortune.
